“Go digital: Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises on their journey into the digital future” is the message on the website of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Urban has embarked on this journey in collaboration with the i-unit group.
Applying for funding
Tim Urban, managing director of the Urban Group, reports: “We didn’t notice much about the application and processing of the subsidy.” The consulting firm is responsible for applying for the subsidy, which it also processes directly with Euronorm. The customer is only billed for half of the fee and still receives the full consulting service. Urban Erdbau has selected consulting services from the “Business Process Digitization” and “IT Security” modules, which it intends to use to implement its already purchased ERP system and optimize its internal IT infrastructure and security.
Process digitization
During the introduction of the ERP system, particular attention was paid to accounting and the digitization of this business area. The activities included recording current processes, transferring these processes to the digital context of the new ERP system, and optimizing and documenting these processes for internal quality assurance. In addition, i-unit provided support in the development of machine and personnel hourly rates, enabling calculations, quotations, and evaluations to be carried out digitally in the ERP system.
Optimization of IT security
To ensure that the newly created digital environment is secure, the current IT infrastructure was analyzed, tested, and optimized in the “IT Security” module. As part of the integration of a future-proof IT security concept, new hardware with a new firewall was installed, a penetration test was carried out, and instructions for use and procedures for the secure handling of IT were drawn up.
Conclusion
Tim Urban sums it up: “We are now well equipped to continue on the path of digitalization. By working with i-unit and CIT networking as part of the ”go-digital“ funding program, we have been able to consolidate our position and prepare ourselves for the tasks ahead. Digitalization is likely to be a never-ending, complex process, but we have set sail in the right direction.”
